Sarthak Bansal and Vanshika Agarwal Champions

New Delhi (01 May 09) :- Sarthak Bansal of Guru Harkishan Public School won the Under-11 Open Chess Championship in the Amity Delhi State Chess Festival here at Amity International School, Saket today. In a nail biting finish at the final round, Sarthak overcame Parth Bhatia to clinch the title with 5.5 points. Under-13 Champion Pavit Singh satisfied with second spot while Agamjot Kals and Rishab Garg shared the third spot. In the other final round encounters Pavit defeated Utkarsh Khaneja while Agamjot Kals beat Bharat Gupta and Rishab Garg got better of Arsh Verma.

Meanwhile in the girls section, Vanshika Agarwal of Convent of Jesus and Mary defeated leader Sharvi Goyal in the final round encounter to clinch the Delhi State Under-11 Girls title with 4.5 points. Sharvi settled for the second place with 4 points. Stuti Dewan and Ridhima Ahluwalia signed the peace treaty in the last round and finished third and fourth respectively. Vanshika and Sharvi will represent Delhi State in the forthcoming National Under-11 Girls Chess Championship.
